Brazil/Peru inaugurate transcontinental highway

An $810-million highway project from the east coast of Brazil to the west coast of Peru was inaugurated September 8 in a groundbreaking ceremony in Puerto Maldonado, Peru, according to news reports. The highway, which also will traverse Bolivia, is expected to take four years to complete.
