The Chemical and Safety Investigation Hazard Board (CSB) has posted on its Web site its 2003 safety bulletin on nitrogen highlights and good safety practices.

The safety bulletin is published to bring additional attention to the continuing hazards of nitrogen asphyxiation.

In the decade between 1992 and 2002, 130 workplace fatalities and injuries occurred from breathing nitrogen-enriched air. Over 60 percent of these victims were working in or next to a confined space, CSB reported.

The bulletin can be reviewed by clicking here for the CSB Web site at csb.gov.
