The Transportation Services Index (TSI) for freight rose 0.5 percent to 113.1 in May from the April level of 112.6, the third consecutive monthly increase, according to Department of Transportation information.
The May 2005 level of 113.1 is 2.4 percent higher than the May 2004 level of 110.5.
TSI is a single seasonally adjusted index of the month-to-month changes in the output of services provided by the for-hire transportation industries, including railroad, air, truck, inland waterways, pipeline, and local transit.
