Dometic Corp offers new auxiliary truck air-conditioning systems sold under the Tundra brand name. They are designed to provide year-round cooling and heating for the truck's sleeper without idling the diesel engine.
Tundra products include self-contained “package” units and split systems, all of which operate on standard 115-volt AC power from an onboard generator set, inverter/battery package, or shore power hookups. Models come in 7,000-, 10,000-, and 14,000-Btu capacities, with built-in electric heat strips providing a cooling and heating system with a single set of ducts and controls.
Package units have all system components contained on a single low-profile chassis that can be mounted under a bunk or in the bottom of a storage space. The closed refrigerant loop is pre-charged and sealed at the factory.
With split systems, condenser and cooling fan are mounted outside the cab, while a separate unit containing the compressor, evaporator, blower, and heating strip is installed inside the truck. Contact Dometic, PO Box 15299, Richmond VA 23227-0699 for further information.
