In November 1999, Kemco Systems Inc was contacted by a major food processor in Missouri to improve the efficiency of its 400- and 600-horsepower boilers. An energy audit projected that fuel avoidance would yield a six-month system payback.

Kemco's Boiler Stack Economizer was shipped in February 2000. Customer reports show that this system has reduced natural gas consumption by 868 thousand cubic feet in September 2003, saving about $4,600. Actual savings every month averaged $8,000 over the past three years, with a peak of $11,000 and a low of about $4,000 per month, depending on boiler load.

The Boiler Stack Economizer will produce a plant's hot water using energy-efficient heat transfer technology. Features include stainless steel construction, life expectancy of 20 years, non-restricted water capacity, boiler stack exhaust reduced to 60° F, and a quick return on investment.
