An empty petroleum tank being converted to water storage blew up at a Sykesville MD company August 30, killing a 28-year-old worker, according to reports in the Baltimore Sun.

The tanker exploded when a worker at Renehan’s Water for Pools reportedly used a blowtorch to cut into the rear of the used cargo tank.

The explosion threw the victim 15 yards, and authorities declared him dead at the scene.
