CONTINENTAL Tire North America Inc added three new tires to the General Tire product line for North America. The tires were introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show March 31 to April 2 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Designed primarily for long haul, over-the-road use, the General D660 drive tire is the latest in a line of high-performing, durable tires from Continental's General Tire product portfolio.

“The General D660 is built to maximize value, efficiency and performance for its user,” said Clif Armstrong, CTNA's marketing director for commercial vehicle tires group. “The D660 features outstanding qualities including an extra deep 30/32" tread depth and a closed shoulder tread design. These features provide long original mileage, even wear, and excellent traction in all types of weather conditions. In addition, the General D660's innovative tread pattern and stone ejection system are designed to reduce stone retention and casing penetration allowing for multiple retreads.”

General's S580 steer tire was developed for use in long-haul steer positions. It features an 18/32" six-rib tread design to provide long original mileage and low rolling resistance, which results in high fuel mileage. The optimized footprint ensures even pressure distribution that resists irregular wear and provides long original tread life. In addition, a special shoulder protection rib resists irregular shoulder wear.

Like most CTNA truck tires, the General S580 comes with a stone ejection system to help minimize stone retention and casing penetration as well as the innovative visual alignment indicator (VAI) system to quickly identify misalignment problems before the tire becomes severely worn.

General Tire also added the new ST250 trailer tire, which has a 13/32" tread depth that helps minimize tread squirm and irregular wear. Although the General ST250 is engineered for use in trailer position, it can also be used in the steer position under specific applications.

“The new General ST250 provides an excellent blend of performance and value”, Armstrong said. “Especially in today's demanding transportation industry, customers expect the best of both worlds — performance and value — and they get it with our General ST250.”

All three new General Tire products are available in the following four sizes:

  • 11R22.5
  • 11R24.5
  • 285/75R24.5
  • 295/75R22.5
