Hino Motors Ltd has selected Donaldson Co Inc as its United States-based filtration product supplier for a new line of Class 4-7 medium-duty conventional-style trucks.
Donaldson air filtration products will serve as an integral part of Hino's five- and eight-liter diesel engines on six new truck models, ranging from 175 to 260 horsepower. Hino, which started production on the new models in November 2003, began offering its new line in January 2004 to fleet owners and operators at Hino dealerships nationwide.
Previously, Hino manufactured and sold only low-cab-forward trucks in North America. Its new conventional style truck line features Hino-built cabs and engines with integrated American-made driveline components. Hino Motors will begin assembly of the new trucks in its Tokyo plant, and in late 2004, the company expects to bring a second assembly facility online in Long Beach CA.
