Chevron Global Marketing has announced Lima Transportes Ltda as the winner of its 2005 Carrier of the Year Award. Lima Transportes has worked with Chevron in Latin America since 2003, and was awarded Carrier of the Year for the Southern Cone in 2005 for zero accidents, zero mixes, and zero spills, working in 11 terminals with 99.35% delivery reliability.
Factors that led Lima Transportes to first place include well-organized documentation of processes, management's involvement in all issues, a modern fleet and thorough maintenance program, and a strong focus on safety, such as its safety incentive program for drivers.
Chevron's Carrier of the Year award program was created to recognize excellence in the implementation of Chevron's Global Road Transport Safety (RTS) management system, and to provide incentive to all contractors to improve their RTS performance. The program is open to all Chevron contractors that have held a contract for a minimum of nine months of the qualifying year and carried at least 10 million gallons of fuel for Chevron during the year. In 2005, 69 carriers met these criteria.
