Transport fire shuts down NY expressway

An ExxonMobil petroleum transport overturned in New York City January 16 on the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway and became engulfed in flames, closing the highway, shutting down the subway in the area, and causing the evacuation of several nearby buildings, according to news reports.

An ExxonMobil petroleum transport overturned in New York City January 16 on the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway and became engulfed in flames, closing the highway, shutting down the subway in the area, and causing the evacuation of several nearby buildings, according to news reports.

The transport was reported to be hauling 8,000 gallons of gasoline. No serious injuries were reported.
