The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co has introduced the Unisteel G288 MSA mixed-service tire to replace the Unisteel G286, the company's workhorse tire for many vocational fleets. Compared with the G286, the G288 MSA offers these strengths:

  • Mileage. High-mileage tread compound provides up to 30% more miles to removal. A wide footprint and 19% increased tread volume delivers long tread life.

  • Tearing/cutting resistance. A new severe-service tread compound and improved robust belt package deliver 18% better resistance to cutting, chipping, and tearing.

  • Off-road and wet traction. The tire's open lug design provides numerous tread edges for grip.

  • Quiet ride. A proprietary pitch sequence in the tread design to reduce tire noise considerably. In testing, the G288 MSA noise levels are reduced by 3.0 decibels.

The new tire also will be available with Goodyear's DuraSeal technology designed to lower costs for repair, downtime, and tire replacement.

These tires, manufactured at Goodyear's facility in Danville VA, come in 10.00R20, 11.00R20, 11.00R22, 11R22.5, 11R24.5, 12.00R24, 12R22.5, 12R24.5, 255/70R22.5 and 275/70R22.5 sizes. For more details, contact Goodyear, Akron OH.
