Seattle Mariners-themed Kenworth T880 part of PACCAR fundraiser for Page Ahead

Aug. 26, 2014

A Kenworth T880 52-inch sleeper truck with a special Seattle Mariners theme was part of a PACCAR fund-raising effort outside Safeco Field in support of the Page Ahead Children’s Literacy Program in Seattle. The event took place August 26 before the 7:10 pm Mariners home game against the Texas Rangers.

PACCAR and Kenworth employee volunteers collected cash donations and accepted new children’s book donations for Page Ahead at the Kenworth T880 Mariners truck, which is equipped with a 500-hp PACCAR MX-13 engine. The truck and volunteers were in the Parking Plaza next to the Safeco Field Parking Garage on the south side of Edgar Martinez Drive South.

PACCAR began a partnership with Page Ahead in 2007. The literacy organization’s mission is to provide new books and develop reading activities that empower at-risk children. For every Mariners run batted in, the PACCAR Foundation makes a financial donation to Page Ahead. By season’s end, the PACCAR Foundation will have donated $600,000 to Page Ahead since the program’s inception, enough to purchase 105,000 new children’s books. PACCAR employees also have purchased and contributed more than 17,500 new children’s books in the past seven years.
