Petro-Canada launches extended drain interval ATF

Company says the DuraDrive HD fluid is the first of its kind approved by Voith Turbo for North America

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc (PCLI) recently launched synthetic DuraDrive Heavy-Duty (HD) Long Drain Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)—the first North American ATF approved by Voith Turbo for 108,000 miles extended drain service.

With the addition of this new product, PCLI now offers two Voith approved fluids for its DIWA transmissions--DuraDrive HD Long Drain ATF and DuraDrive HD Synthetic Blend ATF. Both are listed on the Voith Turbo’s approval fluid list for DIWA transmissions (US SB 013/118) in North America.

“Leveraging our world-class research and development capabilities, we worked in close partnership with Voith to design a product that meets the high performance needs of the Voith DIWA automatic transmissions in extended drain service,” said Barnaby Ngai, category manager-heavy-duty engine and driveline oils, Petro-Canada Lubricants. “DuraDrive HD Long Drain ATF has been specially formulated and proven to deliver extended drain intervals of 108,000 miles as recommended by Voith.”

Mark Bair, senior warranty administrator at Voith Turbo Inc, added: “We are pleased with the performance of PCLI’s DuraDrive HD ATFs, including the new DuraDrive HD Long Drain ATF, which gives us full confidence in including this new product in our warranty program. Our partnership with PCLI dates back to 2007 and has proven to be very successful and integral to the value that we bring to our customers.”

Under this warranty program, when using an approved Petro-Canada Lubricants’ automatic transmission fluid, the Voith DIWA Automatic Transmission’s base warranty coverage is extended from 24 months/150,000 miles to 30 months/150,000 miles, depending on which is reached first. Use of the PCLI’s DuraDrive HD ATFs also allows Voith customers the option to purchase a 5-year/300,000-mile warranty with an exclusive rebate.

All provisions for proper care and maintenance of the transmission as described in DIWA Service Schedule (G1734-.3E, G1942-.5) must be observed to receive the extended warranty. Of particular note is the provision for scheduled oil analysis.
