NationalLease joins with UTI for mechanic training in Lisle IL

March 24, 2014

NationaLease, one of the largest independent full service truck leasing companies in North America, joined with nearly 250 local business, civic, educational, and industry executives to celebrate the grand opening of Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) new, state-of-the-industry campus in Lisle, IL.

NationaLease has joined UTI in a strategic partnership, with both organizations working closely together to equip students with the skills to enter the workforce ready for employment as a diesel technician.

NationaLease is a part of the Program Advisory Committee which reviews the curriculum, instruction, facilities, and equipment used to ensure they are relevant to the work in the field. The organization has also created a NationaLease-branded classroom to position itself as the employer of choice. This classroom features a map displaying all NationaLease locations, as well as member and organization logos. This classroom is used for the Preventive Maintenance class, which is a required course for all Diesel Tech students.

In addition, NationaLease will work with UTI to help develop curricula, assist instructors and staff in preparing students with job search skills, participate in career fairs and workshops, and provide speakers for UTI events near campus. The organization will also work with UTI’s Industry Employment department to help identify qualified graduate for open member positions across the country.

“We know that a large number of our current technicians will reach retirement age in the next few years,” says Dean Vicha, president of NationaLease. “Finding replacements with the same high standards of service and technical skills is essential. Our participation with UTI will provide our 165 independent businesses across North America with impressive, highly qualified candidates for technician positions.”

Julie Mueller, campus president of UTI-Lisle, says: “We work hard to be the industry’s choice, and it means a lot to us that so many employer and manufacturer partners joined us to celebrate the opening of our new Midwest campus. Our industry customers continue to express a strong demand for skilled workers, and we will provide them access to an ongoing pipeline of qualified technicians for years to come.”
