Total reported volumes of used Class 8 trucks were flat in October, rising by 1% month over month, according to the latest release of the State of the Industry: US Classes 3-8 Used Trucks, published by ACT Research.
“The month over month gain came from the retail market which rose 4%, but results were tempered by softer activity in the auction and wholesale segments,” says Steve Tam, vice-president-commercial vehicle sector with ACT.
Meanwhile, the average selling price of total reported Class 8 trucks continued on a record-setting pace, up 19% year over year.
The report from ACT provides data on the average selling price, miles, and age based on a sample of industry data. In addition the report provides the average selling price for top-selling Class 8 models for each of the major truck builders--Freightliner (Daimler); Kenworth and Peterbilt (Paccar); International (Navistar); and Volvo and Mack (Volvo).
