Freightliner Trucks announced the availability of Thermo King TriPac auxiliary power units (APU) as an option for Freightliner Cascadia models with DD15 and Series 60 engines as well as Century Class S/T, Columbia, and Coronado models with Series 60 engines.

The TriPac APU is an auxiliary heating and cooling temperature management system that allows drivers to eliminate unnecessary idling, conserve diesel fuel, and save money. TriPac APUs also comply with current anti-idling laws and restrictions.

According to Thermo King and based on fuel consumption and a fuel price of $3/gallon, trucks idling 2,500 hours per year can save up to 6.4 cents per mile and reduce unnecessary fuel consumption by more than 85% by installing the TriPac APU.
