Diesel fuel’s price falls for second straight week

The average price of diesel fuel nationwide dropped 1.4 cents to $2.594 a gallon the past week, the second straight decrease after almost two months of increases, according to US Department of Energy information

The average price of diesel fuel nationwide dropped 1.4 cents to $2.594 a gallon the past week, the second straight decrease after almost two months of increases, according to US Department of Energy information.

This decline put diesel $2.133 below year-ago levels. Prices reached a record high of $4.764 per gallon July 14, 2008.

The second consecutive week of price decreases comes after seven straight weeks of increases, during which time diesel prices climbed a total of 43.1 cents.
