Superior Bulk Logistics unveils Anthem to honor the military

After months of planning and work, Superior Bulk Logistics unveiled its #SUPERIORANTHEM tractor at the corporate headquarters in Oak Brook IL. This one of a kind Mack Anthem was created to thank past and current service men and women and their families.

“It was important that we did this because it reinforces our corporate culture to support the US military veterans and their families,” said Superior Carriers President, Brian Nowak. At the beginning of the year, we approached Mack Trucks and M&K Dealerships with the idea of a custom truck and both companies jumped at the opportunity to be involved. From there, we partnered with Modagrafic after seeing some of their vinyl branding initiatives and the project took off. When all is said and done, over 20 people played a part in making this idea a success.”

Then came the hard part. Who was going to drive the tribute tractor? This isn’t going to be a truck that is parked and only dusted off for shows. This truck is going to travel the country and be a key part of the Superior Bulk Logistics working operation.

“We needed to find the right person to drive this custom piece; someone who would take pride in and value the meaning behind it,” said Chris Halvachs Superior Bulk Logistics digital marketer. “To us, that meant honoring one of own. We are pleased to announce that this custom truck was presented to Mike Godfrey, a 20-year Air Force veteran and 5-year Air Force contractor turned driver trainer out of our Greer SC terminal.

On September 21, Godfrey was invited to the corporate office under the pretense that he would be helping with a new hiring campaign focused on veterans. Little did he know what was waiting for him when he arrived. After meeting with a couple members of staff to go over ideas, Godfrey was directed to the parking lot where the wrapped Anthem was parked, waiting for him with the embrace of all the corporate staff. After a few words from Nowak; Ken Shafer, Superior Carriers director of maintenance and tank cleaning; and Halvachs, Godfrey was able to walk around the truck to appreciate the work and effort put into this thoughtful design.

“It still hasn’t sunk in but driving this truck is a dream come true,” Godfrey said.

Superior Bulk Logistics’ leadership described the #SUPERIORANTHEM project as a seminal moment for the company’s history and a first in many different aspects.

“Never in our company’s 75+ years of business have we ever designed a truck to stand out amongst the others,” said Steve Lowman, Superior Carriers senior vice-president of operations. “Also, we’ve never presented a tractor to a specific driver.

“This project truly is one of a kind. I think it’s perfect. The time and attention paid to the detail and how they Mondagrafics] aligned everything is a perfect balance. We believe that this truck honors our company’s appreciation for the men and women who sacrifice so much for our great nation.
