Van den Bosch expands deep-sea activities

Netherlands based logistics services provider to add 500 26-foot ISO tank containers, cleaning facility for liquid food products in West Africa

Van den Bosch, headquartered in The Netherlands, is expanding its deep-sea activities with 500 additional 20-foot tank containers and a new cleaning facility in Ivory Coast in Africa.

The logistics service provider says the expansion will help it meet the growing demand for deep-sea transport with ISO tanks in the food industry.

Van den Bosch is one of the largest bulk transporters of liquid foodstuffs in the world. The emphasis is on shipping liquid foodstuffs in ISO tank containers for the African market, such as cocoa, shea butter, olive oil, sunflower oil, ethanol and wine.

“With the purchase of 500 extra containers, we are clearing the way for further growth,” said Bart van de Vorst, managing director of Van den Bosch in Dubai, where the company’s deep-sea activities are coordinated. “We expect to complete the delivery of the new batch of tank containers in the second quarter of 2022.”

As the “Supply Changer in Bulk,” Van den Bosch focuses on setting up and converting traditional transport flows to bulk transport, the company said. “In Africa, for example, a lot of work is still done in the traditional way. Products are shipped in small packages or in flexitanks,” Van de Vorst siad. “This costs an unnecessary amount of time and labor and is also not the most environmentally friendly solution. By choosing bulk transport in ISO tank containers, we offer an efficient, reliable, and sustainable transport solution.

“This is how we really make a difference for our customers, especially given the current market situation. In addition to the aforementioned advantages, ISO tanks are a welcome solution to the shortage of sea containers.”

Following the tank cleaning that opened in Ghana in 2016, Van den Bosch is expected to open a second cleaning in Abidjan, Ivory Coast in the second quarter of next year.

“We have invested heavily in the African continent in recent years,” Van de Vorst said. “By opening this cleaning service, we are meeting the needs of our customers.”

The tank cleaning is built in accordance with the high European quality standards and also meets all the conditions for cleaning Kosher and Halal, Van den Bosch added. “Previously, it was not always possible to take back a return load due to a lack of professional cleaning options,” Van de Vorst concluded. “The cleaning ensures a better balance between incoming and outgoing transport flows, and thus fewer empty transport movements.”
