PETERBILT Motors Company, a division of PACCAR Inc, introduced a Class 6 version of its Model 330 conventional at the 2000 Mid-America Trucking Show that was held March 23-25 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Class 6 configuration enters production in August 2000.

Peterbilt officials also announced that production has begun for the new medium-duty cabover Model 270. It is being built at Paccar's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ste Therese, Quebec, Canada. This is the same plant where the Model 330 conventionals are built.

The new Class 6 Model 330 has an all-aluminum, corrosion-resistant cab. A 50-degree wheel cut facilitates maneuverability in tight places. The steeply sloped hood provides excellent visibility, and the fender-mounted turn signals are easily recognized by the driver as well as other vehicles or pedestrians.

The Class 6 Model 330 is standard with Dana Spicer axles and features the I80 front axle rated at 8,000 pounds and the 19060S rear axle rated at 18,000 pounds. A 210-horsepower Caterpillar 3126B is standard equipment, but the truck is available with engine ratings from 175-300 hp.

Cummins engines, as well as automatic and manual ergonomic steering wheel with a tilt column, combined with an easy-to-read gauge layout, provide operators a comfortable driving environment. And Peterbilt's classic vermilion burl dash panels add a touch of elegance.
