Chart Industries Inc's NexGen Fueling Division has won a contract to build a liquid natural gas (LNG) fuel station for DON Investments of Stockton CA. This public-access fuel station is at the northern end of the Interstate 5 leg of the Interstate Clean Transportation Corridor of LNG stations stretching from San Diego to Sacramento CA. The contract value was not disclosed.

DON Investments is adding 46 Class 8 semi-tractor dual-fuel tandem trucks to its fleet of trucks. It received partial funding for the station from San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, California Energy Commission, and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Partial financing for the LNG vehicles was received from the Carl Moyer Program of CARB.

The fuel station being installed will have two LNG dispensers capable of fueling up to 100 vehicles per day. The station design will allow further expansion of infrastructure and is also designed to add LCNG capabilities, which will convert LNG into compressed natural gas (CNG), so both types of vehicles can be fueled. Site construction has begun, and the station is expected to be commissioned by Dec 31, 2001.
