THE CHROME Shop Mafia is at it again. This time, the crew tricked out a 2010 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2010 Freightliner Coronado. Both customized tractors were on view at the 2010 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) in Louisville, Kentucky.

The enhanced Cascadia featured an intricate exterior design, complete with a specially-designed visor, stainless wire grill inserts, flush-mount starbrite stainless frame covers, Chrome Shop Mafia axle covers, shortened fairings for fuel tank covers, and more. Sleek graphics and custom touches, such as a unique paint job that flows over custom-built rear fenders specific to this truck, finished the look.

“The Chrome Shop Mafia has again managed to take an already great looking truck and create something even more special,” said Melissa Clausen, product marketing director for Freightliner Trucks. “Our partnership with the Chrome Shop Mafia always results in eye-catching trucks that highlight all of the best features on our products.”

Freightliner Trucks and the Chrome Shop Mafia have worked together for two years, most recently customizing the all-new Coronado for the product's launch at the Chrome Shop Mafia's “Guilty by Association” show in late 2009. The crew also showcased a tricked-out 2009 Cascadia at the 2009 MATS.

Freightliner also showed off its “Victory Lane Edition” option package for the new Freightliner Coronado. The new package enables owner-operators to each add their own personal touch to their trucks.

The “Victory Lane Edition” reflects Freightliner Trucks' high-profile involvement in motorsports, which includes their longstanding tenure as the Official Hauler of NASCAR. Through a joint partnership with Freightliner Trucks, Chrome Shop Mafia was enlisted for the Coronado project.

The package will feature a variety of chrome, graphics and branded accessory options for both the interior and exterior that will allow owner-operators to easily customize their trucks, such as:

  • A 20-inch chrome front bumper.
  • Stainless drop visor, rear quarter fenders and 60-inch frame cover.
  • Custom rear tail light panel with LED lights and chrome bezels.
  • Chrome exhaust pipes.
  • Chrome Shop Mafia seats.
  • Dual-branded Freightliner Trucks and Chrome Shop Mafia floor mats and sleeper carpet.

The truck builder also announced it has extended its partnership with Allison Transmission Inc to offer Allison Optimized packages in the Business Class M2 112 line of natural gas-powered vehicles. Allison Optimized packages feature a variety of specs for optimum performance and efficiency.

“Freightliner Trucks continues to pave the way with our alternative fuel options, and the Allison Optimized package only contributes to the efficiency and performance of these vehicles,” Clausen said. “By continuing our partnership with Allison Transmission, we are providing the best-performing vehicles and options to our customers.”

The Allison Optimized package for Freightliner Business Class M2 112 natural gas vehicles includes:

  • Shift Energy Management
  • Prognostics
  • Load Base Shift Schedule
  • Auto Neutral
  • TES 295 Synthetic Fluid

The Allison Optimized package is now available for the Business Class M2 112 Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tractor with Allison 3000 HS model. For municipal and other vocational applications, the Business Class M2 112 LNG and CNG straight trucks are available with the Allison Optimized 3000 RDS model. Allison Optimized packages are also available for the Coronado dump truck and complete line of Freightliner Business Class M2 trucks.  ♦
