Minot ND next stop for NTTC/DOT cargo tank workshops

Aug. 18, 2015

National Tank Truck Carriers and the US Department of Transportation have scheduled a cargo tank workshop for September 23-24 in Minot, ND at the Holiday Inn Minot-Riverside.

These workshops are conducted by experienced DOT/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration field agents who are active in hazardous material and cargo tank training and enforcement--with special training in the details of cargo tank regulatory requirements. They use their experience in conducting facility audits to introduce "real world" issues into the workshops.

Each workshop focuses on compliance with the DOT’s cargo tank qualification and maintenance regulations found in 49 CFR Parts 107 and 180 and provides analysis of the complex series of federal regulations so carriers and repair facilities may achieve full compliance. Information will be presented covering all MC and DOT series cargo tanks.

Topics to be covered in the workshop include: Overview of 49 CFR Part 180; special test/inspection conditions; external visual inspections; internal visual inspections; pressure tests; leakage tests; thickness tests; lining inspections; DOT Interpretations; compliance dates/tank markings; record keeping requirements; cargo tank repair and retrofitting; compliance and enforcement issues; registration procedures for test/inspection facilities; history/background of 49 CFR Parts 107 & 180 (HM-183 and HM-213); and qualifications of Registered Inspectors, Design Certifying Engineers, and Authorized Inspectors

Registration rates are $350 for NTTC members and $395 for non-members. Contact NTTC for a registration form at [email protected] or fax 703-838-1960. Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.

NTTC has arranged for a room rate of $95/night (single/double occupancy) at the Holiday Inn Minot-Riverside (2200 Burdick Expressway East, Minot ND 58701) for workshop attendees. Please call 701-852-2504 and reference the National Tank Truck Carriers room block or use the reservations link to receive this special rate.

Attendees will receive a Workbook, an NTTC Bulk Hazmat Compliance Guide (formerly known as the NTTC Hazardous Materials Regulations book) and meals both days (continental breakfast and lunch). Certificates of attendance will be issued to those attending both days of the Workshop.

The two-day workshops run from approximately 8:30 am to 5 pm each day. A continental breakfast will be available starting at 8 am and lunch will be at approximately noon.
