Carbon Express Inc a Wharton NJ tank truck carrier, was selected by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association as the winner of the NJBIA Award for Environmental Quality for 2014. The Environmental Quality Award is presented annually to the company that has done outstanding work to preserve or enhance the quality of the environment in New Jersey.
Due to its high population density, its legacy as an industrial power, and its uniquely complex environmental laws and regulations, New Jersey presents unusual environmental challenges to the business community. This award recognizes the outstanding company in New Jersey whose activities have measurably improved the quality of the state’s land, air or water.
Carbon Express has earned a reputation in the industry as having an excellent “Carbon Footprint.” By eliminating sleeper cabs from its fleet and taking other measures to reduce the weight of their equipment without compromising safety, Carbon Express is able to haul 5,000 to 7,000 pounds more product than the competition.
This results in fewer trucks on the road to handle the same amount of product which means less fuel consumption and less harmful emissions released into the air. No sleeper cabs means no idling during break periods and less fuel consumption. During 2013, Carbon Express realized an estimated savings of 137,000 gallons of fuel.
This Environmental Quality Award comes on the heels of Carbon Express being named the winner of the 2014 Fleet Safety Award presented by the New Jersey Motor Truck Association, driver Jacobus Hansen being named NJMTA 2014 Driver of the Year, and driver Todd Stine being selected as one of the American Trucking Associations America’s Road Team Captains.
The Award will be formally presented to Carbon Express President Stephen J Rush at the NJBIA Awards for Excellence Dinner on October 15.
