Safe operation brings FR&T driver a new Chevy Silverado

April 15, 2014

Demetri East, a professional driver at the Pensacola FL terminal of Florida Rock and Tank Lines, has been awarded a new 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The truck is part of the Jacksonville FL-based tank truck carrier’s award-winning safety program.

“To be eligible to win the truck, the company and the terminal must meet their accident frequency ratio goal for the fiscal year,” says Jim Anderson, vice-president of safety and human resources. “This means no driving accidents or other mishaps, such as product spills or product contamination, for the entire year.”

Drivers from each terminal are eligible for the “Truck Giveaway” if they have been employed the entire fiscal year.

With over 475 power units on the road, CEO and President Rob Sandlin is committed to programs promoting safety. “Operating safely is our number one priority, so we offer an incentive program that rewards drivers for meeting safety goals,” he says. “Handing the keys of a new truck to Demetri is the company’s way of saying we care about you, your family, and the driving public.”

Married nine years, with four children, Demetri knows the importance of driving safely every day. Heather Munro, Pensacola terminal manager, upon hearing Demetri’s name drawn, said, “Demetri is a very important part of our success. He is dependable, honest, and thorough in his safety processes, and a great asset to our team."
