Harry Montgomery, former Highway Transport safety VP, dies

Harry Porter Montgomery, 91, of Knoxville TN passed away October 21, 2015 at his home. He served as vice-president of safety for Highway Transport Company for many years.

During WWII, Montgomery served in the US Army in the Pacific theater. He attended East Tennessee State University, Lincoln Memorial University and retired as a Major in the Eastern Division of the Tennessee State Highway Patrol after 30 years of service. Montgomery lived in Knoxville for 44 years and was a former resident of Johnson City TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Porter and Martha Parkey Montgomery; and beloved wife Polly and two sisters. Harry is survived by four daughters, Joyce M Pardue (Tom), Jean M Conger (Joel), Kay M Clayton, Ann M Goldstine (Dick) He is also survived by grandchildren, Renee Pardue McNees (Tom), Erin Pardue Gilham (Scott), Joe Ben "Joby" Conger III (Brooke), Joshua Smith Conger ( Annie), Joh Porter Conger (Rachel); great grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Conger, Joe Ben Conger IV, Harper Ann Conger, Harry Porter Conger, Jack Smith Conger, John Porter Conger II, Baby Conger (April 2016) and three cousins.
