Former NTTC chair Bob Schaupp dies at 95

Robert “Bob” Schaupp, former chairman of the board for P&S Investment—which includes LCL Bulk Transport—served as National Tank Truck Carriers chairman from 1990 to 1991.

Former National Tank Truck Carriers chairman Robert “Bob” Schaupp died April 15 at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center in De Pere, Wisconsin.

He was 95 years old.

Schaupp, who also served as president of LCL Transit and chairman of the board for P&S Investment Company—which includes LCL Bulk Transport—rose to NTTC’s top position in 1990. His son, current LCL Bulk president John “Hans” Schaupp, followed in his footsteps as NTTC chairman in 2012.

“Bob Schaupp’s legacy in the trucking industry and beyond will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him,” NTTC said in a news release.

“NTTC extends its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Born on February 25, 1929, in Wausau, Wisconsin, Bob was a dedicated and influential figure in the trucking world. He joined LCL Transit Company in Green Bay in 1957 and played a pivotal role in its growth and success. Under his leadership, LCL in 1983 became P&S Investment, which includes six operating companies: LCL Transit, LCL Bulk, HFCS Transport, Stellar Express, LDS Express, and St. Joe Express.

Family-owned LCL Bulk today is a leading food-grade tank truck carrier.

Bob’s impact extended beyond his company. In addition to serving as NTTC chairman, he received the NTTC Lifetime Service Award in 2014 and NTTC’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. He also was a past chairman and long-standing executive committee director for the the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association, and served as the association’s delegate to the American Trucking Associations.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was actively involved in his community and various organizations, including the YMCA, Lawrence University, and the Ephraim Historical Foundation.
