Powerbrace expands offerings with DFW Grating acquisition

June 26, 2018
Powerbrace Corporation recently acquired DFW Grating, enabling it to deliver high-quality grating systems to trailer and truck body manufacturers.

Powerbrace Corporation recently acquired DFW Grating, enabling it to deliver high-quality grating systems to trailer and truck body manufacturers for a variety of applications, including tank trailers and service trucks.

The acquisition included a name change, with the Dallas TX-based DFW Grating becoming Miner Grating Systems and incorporating with Powerbrace, a wholly owned subsidiary of Miner Enterprises.

“I’ve been extremely impressed by DFW Grating’s technical capabilities and commitment to customer success,” said John Swezey, president and general manager of Powerbrace Corporation.

“As we integrate DFW’s operations with our own, I’m confident that we’ll be able to deliver even greater value to our new and existing customers.”

DFW Grating rose to prominence as a manufacturer of metal grating products like bar grating, diamond safety grating and round-hole safety grating for a wide range of uses, including railcar running boards and intermodal platforms.

The facility will continue operations in its current 120,000-square-foot factory in Dallas.

Powerbrace manufactures and markets trailer swing door securement products for the truck-trailer and specialty-trailer market segments under the Powerbrace brand name at its Kenosha WI facility.

It also manufacturers railcar equipment, including outlet gates, discharge mechanisms and brake beams, for its parent company, sold under the Miner brand. The Powerbrace Rail Products Division has a manufacturing facility in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.

With the DFW Grating acquisition, Powerbrace will offer custom fabrication services from the initial engineering drawing to the production of ready-to-install gratings.

“We are thrilled to welcome DFW Gratings into the Miner Enterprises family,” said William O’Donnell, the executive director of global sales for Miner.

“DFW is a respected name in the rail products industry, with a reputation for delivering maximum value to their customers. Their company culture and values align perfectly with our own, just as their premier line of high-quality grating systems are a perfect fit with our engineered product line.”
