The Modern Group acquires National Chassis

The Modern Group (together with its affiliated companies, Dragon Products Group), a leading manufacturer of mission critical products serving the energy and industrial industries, has recently completed the acquisition of the assets of National Chassis from independent Tank Service Inc, La Porte TX. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition will extend National Chassis’ product portfolio in the frac sand hauling and intermodal container chassis markets and offer highly competitive financing and special terms on lease purchase agreements.

The Modern Group is currently developing a tract of land on Hwy 146 in La Porte adjacent to Barbours Cut Boulevard, which will serve as National Chassis’ operations and inventory hub. This strategic location near the Port of Houston will also service the plastic resin export market, and offer specialized trailer chassis solutions for newly passed Texas heavy haul legislation.

“The acquisition of National Chassis is a natural extension of our current oilfield trailer equipment line,” says Will Crenshaw, chief executive officer/chairman, The Modern Group. “With Dragon’s manufacturing capabilities and dedicated transportation and logistics team we can ensure customers receive reliable and timely delivery of equipment so they can meet increasing proppant demands at the well site. This is an exciting time in both oil and gas transport and resin/plastics export markets and we’re pleased to be able to provide solutions that deliver a real advantage to our customers.”
