Washington, DC, has served as the backdrop for many of the conferences and conventions held by National Tank Truck Carriers Inc over the past half century. It seemed only natural to return to the nation's capital for NTTC's 50th anniversary annual meeting.

Speakers at the meeting covered a wide range of topics that included the Union Pacific Railroad crisis, owner-operator leases, weigh-in-motion technologies, and the reorganization underway at the American Trucking Associations.

Fifty-two vendors participated in the equipment show. Products represented by the vendors ranged from tractors and tank trailers to fittings and the latest in computer hardware and software for the tank truck industry.

Scott F Miller, president of Miller Transporters Inc in Jackson, Mississippi, was elected the 1998-1999 chairman. Miller previously was southern region vice-chairman.
