Fleets ShipChem Inc has appointed Samuel Hensley chief financial officer. Hensley joins ShipChem from Georgia Gulf Corp, where he served as corporate controller for the past seven years.

Suppliers Philip Services Corp has appointed Ken Giacomino vice-president and corporate controller. He joins PSC from the A B Dick Co, where he was vice-president and chief financial officer.

Kenworth Truck Co has promoted Anthony McQuary to assistant general manager for sales and service. McQuary most recently served as plant manager at the Kenworth manufacturing plant in Renton WA.

Peterbilt Motors Co has named Irvin Bird of Allstate Peterbilt in South St Paul MN as 2000 Peterbilt/Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician of the Year.

Volvo Trucks North America Inc has named David Plaster vice-president-vocational sales. He served most recently as director of truck and vocational marketing.

Dominic Grote has been named director of product development for Grote Industries Inc's OEM Division. He had served as marketing services manager the past three years.

Associations Patrick J Marantette, president and chief executive officer of E T Horn Co of La Mirada CA, has been elected chairman of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD). Elected vice-chairman was Thomas H Coyne, president of George S Coyne Chemical Co Inc of Croydon PA. Steven C Quandt, president of Columbus Chemical Industries Inc of Columbus WI, a member of the NACD board, was elected treasurer.

Mark W Kramer, president and chief operating officer of Ellis & Everard (US Holdings) Inc of Atlanta GA and immediate past chairman of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), has won the 2000 Distributor of the Year Award presented at the recent NACD annual meeting.

David J Hensing, acting director of engineering and technical services for the American Association of Safe Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), has been named interim president of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America). Hensing will serve while the ITS America board of directors seeks a replacement for John J Collins, who has resigned as ITS America president and chief executive officer.

Dr V K Sharma, director of product development engineering with International Truck and Engine Corp, has been elected chairman of the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) board of directors for 2001. Sharma served as TMA vice-chairman in 2000. Thomas F Brown, executive staff engineer, Product Support Department, Mack Trucks Inc, was elected vice-chairman. Skip Yeakel, principal engineer-advanced engineering, Volvo Trucks North America Inc, was elected secretary-treasurer.

Civacon Enhances Gravity Coupler Assembly Combining a redesigned 871A gravity coupler with its 634B aluminum cap, Civacon has introduced its new 871A-W059 gravity coupler assembly. Enhanced features of the new 871A-W059 assembly include slotted cam arms for tamperproof applications, chrome-plated chains, and heavy-duty chain lugs.

Recently redesigned, the 871A coupler mates with standard 4" tank adapters. Additional features include:

- An enhanced "lip" design in the 12-o'clock position that centers the coupler with an API adapter for a solid connection that's easier to handle and operate.

- A hose connection end angled at 15 downward for improved drainage.

- Light, yet durable aluminum body with a choice of Buna-N or Viton seals.

Alcoa Revamps Next Generation Wheel Alcoa Wheel Products International offers the new Next Generation hub-piloted wheel, which replaces the earlier New Generation version, offering even more payload potential to weight-sensitive fleets and owner-operators. Next Generation wheels can boost a rig's payload potential by as much as 630 pounds over steel hub-piloted wheels and up to 724 pounds over steel ball-seat wheels. This wheel carries a 7,300-lb load rating. Wheel sizes are 22 x 8.25 (PN 883620) and 24 x 8.25 (PN 983620), and weigh 47 and 55 pounds, respectively.
