Philip Services Corp's board of directors has appointed Anthony G Fernandes chairman of the board. He joined PSC in August 1999 after more than 30 years

Philip Services Corp's board of directors has appointed Anthony G Fernandes chairman of the board. He joined PSC in August 1999 after more than 30 years as an executive manager with the Atlantic Richfield Co. Other members elected to serve on the Philip board include Robert L Knauss, former chairman; Harold First, Edmund B Frost, Richard L Marcantonio, Peter Offermann, Felix Pardo, R William Van Sant, and Nathaniel D Woodson.

Jack Field, western region sales manager for Alcoa Wheel Products, has retired. His position will be filled by Frank Pedroncelli, who had been market manager-commercial vehicle wheels. Palma S Ferrari, most recently manager-customer service group, has been promoted to commercial manager-North America distributors. Del Sauer has joined Alcoa as Midwest fleet territory manager. He has 27 years of experience in truck sales and management. Linda Scheiblauer has been hired as mid-Atlantic territory manager after most recently serving as general manager of Reynolds Aluminum Supply Co.

Thomas W O'Boyle, senior vice-president and group executive for Eaton Corp's Truck Group, will retire effective June 30, 2001. James E Sweetnam has been elected to that position. Sweetnam was vice-president — heavy-duty transmission, clutch, and aftermarket operations of Eaton's Truck Group.

Hayes Lemmerz International Inc has named Jeffrey Geist director of business development for its Commercial Highway Group. Geist joined the group as director of engineering when the company acquired CMI International in February 1999. Herbert A Larsen has been named the Commercial Highway Group's director of engineering. He most recently worked for ArvinMeritor as engineering manager of specialty products.
