Oklahoma trucking group picks Driver of Year

The Oklahoma Trucking Association (OTA) held its annual safety banquet March 4, 2003, in Oklahoma City OK. Harold Lewis of Tulsa OK, an Oklahoma Tank Lines-United Petroleum Transports (OTL-UPT) driver, was selected as OTA's 2002 Oklahoma Driver of the Year.

With OTL-UPT since 1974, Lewis has been a lease operator and is currently a company driver out of the Tulsa CSC. He and his wife, Carol, live in Tulsa. Lewis received the OTL-UPT Professional Driver of the Year award for 1987.

These OTL-UPT drivers received 2002 OTA Professional Driver nominations: Jack Adcock, Oklahoma City; Robert Coffey, Henryetta OK; Donnie Mitchell, McAlester OK; Larry Smith, Oklahoma City; and Carl Thederahn, Oklahoma City.

Eligibility for OTA's Professional Driver Award is accomplished through safe driving, community service, participation in state/national driving championships, and acts of heroism.
