Heil Trailer International has announced that it plans to close its tank trailer plant in the United Kingdom by the end of the year and transfer the work to factories in Thailand, Poland, and Argentina. Manufacturing has taken place at the plant site in Bilston, West Midlands, England, for more than 160 years.

Heil officials said that the decision to close the Bilston plant came after almost three years of planning and appraisal. Heil Trailer’s cargo tank engineering and procurement ability strengthens with this strategy while the company’s sales, engineering, and expanded UK service network and parts operation become better suited to fulfill customer needs, according to Heil’s official statement.

“Unfortunately, though, in today’s increasingly competitive manufacturing arena, and in order for Heil to progress further in the wider tanker supply industry, the Bilston plant has to close,” Heil officials said.
