Boncosky Transportation Inc has moved into a new terminal at 1706 South 16th Street, La Porte, Texas, a suburb of Houston near the ship channel. It is the sixth terminal in the tank truck company's system.

Surrounded by a large fenced parking yard, the 9,000-sq-ft facility houses offices and a 31/2-bay maintenance shop.

"We feel that this is a central location to service the chemical industry, which is the heart and soul of Houston," says John A Boncosky, Gulf Coast region and national accounts director.

The 3,000-sq-ft office area is divided into administration and dispatching. A conference room provides training space for drivers based in Houston and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Showers and locker rooms are available for drivers and mechanics.

The pull-through bays in the maintenance shop are 80 feet long and serve both the carrier's fleet and other commercial fleets for routine maintenance and repairs, Boncosky says.

Ample parking space is available at the six-acre site. Asphalt covers the two entry driveways and front office parking areas. A stabilized calcium sulfate covers the rest of the yard.

While the new facility is sufficient for the current business level, more expansion is expected in the future. For instance, the site is adjacent to a Union Pacific Railroad track, which lends itself to intermodal expansion. "We also are planning to build a tank wash," says Boncosky.
