Logistics Congress of Americas Set for April The Latin America Logistics Center is organizing the Logistics Congress of the Americas to bring together, for the first time, the leading logistics and supply chain executives from Latin America and the Caribbean. The congress will be held April 25-27, 2001, in Panama City, Panama, and 800 executives from more than 25 nations are expected to attend. It will provide a 360-degree view of the most pressing issues facing logistics.
The Latin America Logistics Center, a private research institution focused on Latin American logistics, has designed a learning environment that will enable participants to compare their corporate performance with that of other participants (Online Benchmarking Terminals). They will also be able to test-drive a variety of logistics solutions (Laboratorio de Soluciones Logisticas). The congress will focus on market globalization, virtualization of the economy, and collaboration between trading partners. Each of these issues will be considered from three different perspectives: that of the academic, the practitioner, and the solution provider.

VOHMA Slates HazMat Training Courses The International Vessel Operators Hazardous Materials Association (VOHMA) has announced VOHMA's 2001 schedule of hazardous materials transportation training.
- International Maritime Dangerous Goods Compliance Seminar - 30th Amendment - A three-day program that provides hazmat employees with a working knowledge of the latest regulations contained in the IMDG Code, published by the International Maritime Organization. Training subjects include packaging, marking, labeling, documenting, handling, shipping, transporting, or otherwise engaging in commerce within the scope of the IMDG Code and 49 CFR in the United States. The IMDG course is offered Feb 14-16, Executive Inn, Oakland CA; and May 2-4 and Oct 10-12, Holiday Inn Harmon Meadows, Secaucus NJ. The member rate for the course is $535; nonmember rate is $595.
- IMDG Recurrent Training - Including the 30th Amendment - A one-day program designed for industry professionals who have completed basic regulatory training and require the recurrent training to meet regulatory mandates. This course provides an overview of the changes in the IMDG Code contained within Amendment 30 and the latest applicable domestic requirements.
